This is from Will's website... He was a great guy. He always had a smile on his face- he will be missed by many people.
Dr. James William McPherson, III (“Will”), 29, beloved husband, son, brother, and friend, died after a courageous and inspiring battle with a brain tumor. His untimely passing leaves a tragic void in this world.
Born on June 5, 1978, Will grew up in Old Hickory and was an honor student athlete at Ezell-Harding Christian School, where he graduated in 1996. After high school, Will attended Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. Halfway through his senior year, Will’s brain tumor was diagnosed. After graduating, Will attended the University of Tennessee at Memphis Dental School. Upon graduation, he began practicing dentistry with his sister.
Will is preceded in death by his father, Dr. James William McPherson, Jr. Will is survived by his wife, Shelby; his parents, Melanee and Jim Bryan; his sisters and their husbands, Cristin Wallace (Brody) and Jennifer Adams (Bo); his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Steve and Sue McCollum; brother-in-law, Sam McCollum; maternal grandparents, Ellen and Chet Slate; five nieces and two nephews; and countless people lucky enough to call Will friend.
The family gives thanks to all of the wonderful people who have supported them, and especially Will, during this difficult time. The family’s saying throughout this battle has been “Where there’s a Will, there’s a way.” The family would also like to give special thanks to the doctors and nurses who treated Will. The family suggests that those wishing to make memorials please make them to the American Brain Tumor Foundation or CaringBridge.org.
